World Trade Center

World Trade Center watercolor

The World Trade Center watercolor features a view of lower Manhattan. The vantage point was looking South from the Hudson River Greenway on the West side. This view shows the dramatic transformation of the skyline in contrast to the 9/11 wreckage, more than two decades ago. Now there is the majestic World Trade Center towering in the distance. In front of it is 111 Murray Street, a residential skyscraper completed in 2018. The tall tan building to the left with the glass facing the Hudson River is Citi Headquarters. In the foreground are trees and plants echoing the rebirth of lower Manhattan. As a comparison, take a look at a similar view taken from Google maps (click here). This image was photographed in 2014, 6 years before this painting was made.

I created this original composition using watercolor paints and paper. I think that it looks great as a wrap-around print on a white, glossy ceramic mug with a copy of the scene printed on either side, and is available for purchase.
